Booking terms

These terms apply when you book a private tour or transfer directly with MacIver Tours & Transfers Ltd, trading as Highland Tony. We want them to be fair and clear. If anything is unclear, please ask before you book.

Prices and what's included

Every tour is private, so we confirm a price for your trip in writing before you book. Unless your quote says otherwise, it includes your guide, vehicle and fuel. Entry tickets, meals, distillery tastings, ferries and accommodation are not included unless they are listed in your quote.

Deposit and paying the balance

• Deposit: 25% of the total when you book. This holds the date and covers our planning.
• Small transfers under £150: paid in full when you book or on the day, with no deposit.
• Day tours and transfers: the balance is due on or before the day.
• Bespoke and multi-day tours: the balance is due 60 days before the start. Pay in full when you book and get 5% off; the cancellation terms below still apply.

If you need to cancel

• If we rebook your date: if we fill the same date with other guests, we refund what we charged you above the deposit.
• Costs already paid out: anything we have already paid on your behalf that can't be refunded, such as hotels or ferries, is passed on at cost.
• Changing your date: you can move your deposit to a new date once, within 12 months, if you give us at least 14 days' notice.

If we need to cancel

Very occasionally we may have to cancel because of illness, a vehicle problem or unsafe weather. If that happens, you choose: a new date, another of our guides on the same day, or a full refund including your deposit.

On the day

• Please be ready at the agreed pick-up time. Days are planned around opening times and ferries, so a late start may mean shortening the route.
• Tours run for the agreed hours. If you'd like to stay out longer, extra time is charged at the rate in your quote.
• Your guide may change the route or order of stops for safety, weather or road closures, and will always look for the best alternative.
• Seat belts must be worn. Please tell us when you book about child seats, mobility needs or anything else we should plan for.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation, especially for multi-day trips.

Bookings through other websites

If you book through Viator, GetYourGuide or another booking site, that site's own cancellation policy applies instead of the table above.

Questions or complaints

If anything isn't right, please tell us straight away so we can put it right on the day. These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and nothing in them affects your legal rights as a consumer.
